Xander Bogaerts, the top-rated Red Sox minor league prospect, was called up to Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday and is expected to be in the PawSox lineup tonight when they take on Buffalo at 7:05 at McCoy Stadium.
Bogaerts has spent the entire 2013 season to this point with Double-A Portland, hitting .311 with 12 doubles, 6 triples, 6 home runs, and 35 RBI in 56 games for the Sea Dogs. The 20-year old phenom reached base safely in 51 of 56 games this season, and his 6 triples are tied for the Eastern League lead.
Defensively, Bogaerts has made just 9 errors in 47 games at shortstop.
If he plays tonight, Bogaerts will be the youngest position player to play in a PawSox game at 20 years, 8 months, and 12 days.
