One catcher is off the market in Carlos Ruiz, who decided to stay in Philadelphia for three years and $26 million.

That leaves Brian McCann, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and a handful of lesser-coveted options like AJ Pierzynski.

Bob Neumeier, Joe Haggerty, and Bob Ryan on Sports Tonight discuss the Red Sox current catcher situation and who they should target.

Neumeier and Haggerty are on board with Pierzynski being a guy the Sox bring in short term until their catchers in the minor league system are ready for The Show.

Ryan is leaning more towards re-signing Saltalamacchia depending on the market for him, and notes the success he had in the regular season.
