ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Shane Victorino had a nasty run-in with the bullpen wall Sunday afternoon at Fenway, but after a day off Monday, the outfielder was back in the Red Sox lineup Tuesday night.
"I feel good physically and I'm ready to go tonight," said Victorino, who was taken to the hospital Sunday for precautionary tests and x-rays.
Victorino was sore for a while, but didn't have the kind of injury that Washington outfielder Bryce Harper suffered, which required 11 stitches.
"You have to play the game smart sometimes," said Victorino. "You can't go crashing into walls because you want to crash into walls. I was trying to make an aggressive play and sometimes it happens. You wish for the best and hope nobody gets hurt.
"I was just trying to make a play. Physically, I feel good and I'll be ready to go. I'm excited to be back out there and not miss any games."
Victorino said he tried to avoid watching replays of the crash, but noticed that the Toronto bullpen got off the bench and raced to see how he was.
