Jason Varitek may no longer have a job in Boston, and Tim Wakefield may soon join him on the list of ex-Red Sox stars, but they both might be following their ex-boss to Chicago.
Might, we stress.
According to Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs -- now run, of course, by ex-Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein -- "have some interest in" Varitek. Rogers also reports the Cubs are "checking out Wakefield".
But Rogers also reports: "In both cases, nothing seems imminent and interest could end if they acquire other guys."
