FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Although the entire team has been in camp for several days, the Red Sox had their first official full squad workout Saturday morning. Before that, though, manager Bobby Valentine had his first official meeting with the entire team.

It was introduction to the players and everybody, you know how that goes, Valentine said. Then presidentCEO Larry Lucchino talked and it was very good. General manager Ben Cherington talked. I talked. David Ortiz talked. It was good. It was a good meeting.

Valentine discussed some new rulesincluding a ban on beer in the clubhouse and on the final leg of plane flights. But, there is one overriding rule.

The rules are not to embarrass themselves or the team, the community, their teammates, themselves, he said. I dont think thats a new rule. Thats a long standing rule of life.
