Trey Ball made his season debut on Sunday for the Single-A Greenville Drive after beginning the season in extended spring training.
In a 21-6 win over the Lexington Legends, Ball grabbed a win, allowing three runs on nine hits and a walk. He also struck out two in his five innings (73 pitches) of work.
Ball, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound lefty, was the No. 7 pick of the 2013 draft. A three-pitch pitcher (for now), he has a fastball that gets into the low 90s as well as a developing curveball and changeup.
One of the best overall athletes in last year's draft, Ball was also a talented hitter and outfielder coming out of New Castle High School in Indiana.
