Tomase: Cherington should ‘exploit' seller's market

Friday's 10-3 loss to the Yankees further highlights that this Red Sox team is not on the same level as the 2012 upper echelon teams.

John Tomase says the Red Sox have an opportunity in front of them and that they should "exploit" the fact that it's a seller's market.

Several Red Sox figure to have trade value and with it becoming more obvious by the day that this team does not have the right stuff.

Cody Ross. Aaron Cook. Literally any member of the bullpen.

The Red Sox could pick up a few valuable prospects for the future and position themselves for the long term with a few strategic moves.

What about the poster boy for the broken Red Sox culture - Josh Beckett?

"You don't force something like that now," says Tomase. If the right offer comes along, you can bet the Sox will pull the trigger, but more likely is that they wait until the offseason to trade the righty. But make no mistake, "If you can rid yourself of Josh Beckett I think that should be your number one priority," says Tomase.

You won't find many Sox fans who disagree.
