Jessica Moran was in studio for some Three Up, Three Down on Friday night and took a look at some of the best and the worst for the Red Sox for the past week.
No one stood out for the Sox more than Mike Napoli, who has three home runs and five RBIs in his last four games heading into Friday night. Two of those homers came Sunday night against the Yankees, including a walk-off blast in the 11th inning.
Also coming up big for the Sox as of late are Jonny Gomes and Koji Uehara. Gomes has hit .311 in the month of July, while Uehara has been one of the few bright spots for an otherwise defective bullpen. Uehara has five saves as Sox closer in July.
While some players have stepped their game up, others have struggled mightily, including Stephen Drew, who in 1-for-12 in his last four games since returning from injury.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia has also contributed to the Sox' recent struggles at the plate with nine strikeouts in his last six games while the recently-extended Dustin Pedroia has just one hit in his last 19 at-bats.
