John Farrell managed the Red Sox to a 97-65 record this season - tied for the best in Major League Baseball.

That was a far cry from the 69-93 record just one season prior under Bobby Valentine.

But that turnaround wasn't enough for Farrell to earn AL Manager of the Year honors, as it went to another familiar face instead - Terry Francona.

Francona, also in his first season with the Indians, managed the team to a 92-70 record, up from 68-94 the season before.

Both managers took their teams to the postseason, with the Indians losing in the Wild Card play-in game to the Rays, and the Red Sox, well, you already know how far Farrell went with them.

Voting takes place prior to the start of the postseason.
