With Stephen Drew now playing shortstop for the PawSox, it seems like he'll get the call up to the majors very soon.

That means Xander Bogaerts will shift over to third base, which leaves Brock Holt out of a position - for now, anyways.

Holt has done a commendable job at third base, and came into Saturday's game hitting .299. That was before he crushed his first career major league home run in the 3rd inning Saturday night, a two-run shot to give the Sox a 2-0 lead.

Farrell likes what he's seen out of Holt and doesn't want to lose him completely. That's why the team has plans to try him at other positions.

"Yeah, we're going to start to get him some exposure in the outfield and possibly at first base," Farrell said, "at least in early work, trying to expand his overall role.

"We'll get him just to shag fly balls first and look to gain some comfort. Just to read some balls off the bat in BP, whether that ends up in being left or center in a given situation because of some in-game movement that took place, I think his play and his contributions merit additional flexibility.
