Among players non-tendered by other clubs, left-handed starter Joe Saunders, formerly of the Arizona Diamondbacks, is someone in whom the Sox have an interest.
Saunders, a free agent, was 12-13 with a 3.69 ERA last year for the Diamondbacks, his first full season in Arizona after being traded by the Angels in July 2010. He made 5.5 million in 2011.
Saunders will turn 31 in June. His best years in Anaheim were 2008, when he went 17-7 with a 3.41 ERA, and 2009, when he went 16-7 with a 4.60 ERA.
