BOSTON - Allen Craig is coming along fine and should be back on the field with the Red Sox to open up their three-game series against the Mariners on Friday.

Craig had his first game with the PawSox on Monday, going 0-for-2 with a walk as a DH. He was put on the disabled list back on Aug. 5 with a left foot injury, but it sounds like it has healed.

Craig was back in Boston on Tuesday getting checked out by team doctors. He was not scheduled to appear in Tuesday's game for the PawSox.

"I thought it went really well," Craig told of his first rehab game. "The main goal was just to make sure that my foot was feeling good. I did a lot of running before the game during batting practice. Shagged some fly balls and ran a lot warming up for the game. Got on the bases and it was good, felt good."

It was a full day of getting prepared for the game [Monday]. Just like a normal day. DH'd, got three at-bats, got to see some pitches and get back into it. So it felt good."

Craig missed significant time at the end of his 2013 season with a left foot injury, and actually reaggravated the injury in the World Series against the Red Sox. But this isn't as serious.

"It's not even as close to the severity," Craig said. "It was just a little tweak and a little sore. Just took a little bit of time to get it right.

The plan is for Craig to play right field for the PawSox on Wednesday and Thursday. If everything goes smoothly, he'll be activated for the weekend series.
