The Boston Herald reported Wednesday that the Red Sox have contacted Dodgers third-base coach Tim Wallach about their managerial vacancy and are expected to interview him "in the coming days".

Certainly Im interested, Wallach told the Herald's Michael Silverman. This is what Ive wanted to do and what Ive been preparing to do for some time.

Wallach, 55, spent 13 of his 17 major-league seasons playing for the Expos. He was the Dodgers' Triple-A manager in 2009 and '10, and has been the team's third-base coach for the last two years.
