FORT MYERS. Fla. -- The Sox confirmed the signing of veteran reliever Francisco Cordero to a minor league contract with a major league camp invite.
Cordero, who turns 39 in May, last pitched in the big leagues in August of 2012 with the Houston Astros.
He's a veteran of 14 seasons, having played for six teams. Cordero has 329 career saves and had 37 saves for Cincinnati in 2011.
"He will be here (Monday),'' said John Farrell. "This is a guy who's had a lot of experience in the back end (of games).
"There's been nothing guaranteed to Coco, but the chance to come in and demonstrate what he still has."

Pitchers Jose Mijares and Rich Hill -- both non-roster invitees to camp -- will not report in time for the first workout for pitchers and catchers Monday. Mijares is slowed by visa issues while Hill is attending to a family matter.
Knuckleballer Stephen Wright who underwent surgery to repair a hernia, will be reporting later this week and will be late in getting under way. He's expected to be sidelined until May.
