It's no question that Jon Lester has looked like a liability in the Red Sox rotation in his last 11 starts.
The left-hander is 2-6 with a 6.27 ERA since starting the season 6-0, and suddenly the Sox' prospects of picking up his team option for $13.5 million next year doesn't seem so obvious.
With that in mind, would the Red Sox consider trading Lester instead? Sean McAdam didn't rule out the possibility on The Baseball Show.
"I don't think he could be viewed as untouchable at this point," McAdam said. "It depends on what you're getting back in return. Is it Jake Peavy? Then that's kind of a lateral move. Is it somebody younger that they can control going forward?
"Now the question is -- and this has been hanging around the last couple of weeks as Lester struggles. He has a team option for next year, I think for about $13.5 million. A year or so ago that was the biggest slam dunk. Of course they're gonna pick that up…Now is that a slam dunk?"
