The Red Sox brought in former NL Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy as they gear up for their first playoff bid since 2009. But the acquisition came at the expense of the services of Jose Iglesias, a defensively-gifted shortstop who became a fan favorite with his ability to flash the leather.
Some think giving up a player such Iglesias for a former ace who is now more of a No. 3 starter isn’t worth it. Some think it was. Others are indifferent, feeling no trade needed to be made, but at the same time didn’t hate the deal.
“I would’ve been okay if they stood pat,” said Dan Shaughnessy on UNO Sports Tonight. “But if they did something, bringing in a starting pitcher who they have under contract for next year, I’m good with that.”
