Bobby Valentine and Dustin Pedroia both spoke to the number of chances the Red Sox had in Friday's 6-5 extra-innings loss to the Twins.
A number of players appeared tired and frustrated; the result of a long season of mixed results with little sustained success.
"Talent can only go so far," said Cody Ross. "You have to figure out ways to win. It just feels like we're treading water."
Adrian Gonzalez pointed out that the year is starting to wind down and the team can ill afford to lose these types of games.
