The Red Sox are reportedly set to make a couple roster moves, calling up reliever Heath Hembree and outfielder Corey Brewer from the PawSox for the team's road trip that starts today in St. Louis, according to WEEI.com.
Hembree was acquired by the Sox in the Jake Peavy trade. Hembree made nine appearances for the San Francisco Giants last season, pitching 7.2 innings and giving up 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 12. He didn't allow a run.
In 2014, Hembree made 41 appearances (39.1 IP) for the Giants' Triple-A team, putting up a 3.89 ERA. He struck out 46 and walked 13 while allowing 40 hits.
WEEI.com speculates that Steven Wright will most likely be sent down to make room for Hembree.
Brown has 16 home runs for the PawSox this year to go with 39 RBI. He's hitting .226 on the season. Brown has three seasons of Major League experience with the Washington Nationals, hitting .175 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI in 36 games (45 plate appearances).
Maureen Mullen reports that Allen Craig, who came over from St. Louis in the John Lackey trade, will go on the DL. Craig is dealing with a left ankle injury.
