With the July 31 trade deadline quickly approaching, the Red Sox are setting their sights on some possible trade targets.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, White Sox reliever Matt Thornton is a "possible bullpen target" for the Red Sox.

Rosenthal heard the Braves are also interested in his services, but their interest is "limited."

The 36-year-old left-hander has a 3.04 ERA in 26 2/3 innings for the White Sox this season.  Thornton has held left-handed batters to a .229 batting average.

Andrew Miller's recent foot injury has left Craig Breslow as the only left-hander in the Red Sox bullpen.  Acquiring Thornton would provide another left-hander out of the bullpen.
