The Red Sox were successful in shopping Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett, and Adrian Gonzalez to Los Angeles . . . but are they now shopping themselves?
Fox Business Network "has learned" that the Sox are "mulling a potential sale" and "have been quietly shopping the team to potential buyers.
The Sox deny the rumor but Charlie Gasparino of FBN says "there has been talk for some time that the team is informally gauging interest in the club."
If the team was to sell, it would have to be to someone -- or some group -- with deep pockets. Forbes says the Sox are worth around 1 billion, but FBN says that Sox management, according to people who have spoken to them, want 1.3 billion.
