Report: Oswalt may prefer other teams over Sox

After the Red Sox traded Marco Scutaro, many believed Ben Cherington did it so he could target a starting pitcher. Rumors swirled that starter Roy Oswalt could be high on the Red Sox priority list.

Although the Red Sox have made an offer to the 34-year-old starter, CBS's Jon Heyman has revealed that Oswalt has yet to accept Boston's offer because he may prefer St. Louis, Texas or Cincinnati over Boston.

Oswalt is trying to make a comeback after suffering from a back injury during the 2011 season.

If Oswalt doesn't accept, ESPN's Jim Bowden reported on Twitter that the Red Sox have made an offer to free agent pitcher Edwin Jackson.
