There are multiple factors that could explain the Red Sox success so far this season. But one that has stood out significantly is the starting pitching, especially in the bottom of the rotation.
When healthy, the Sox have gotten quality efforts from Clay Buchholz and Jon Lester -- as expected. But it's been John Lackey, Ryan Dempster and Felix Doubront that have stolen the show as of late, putting together a string of quality starts for the Sox.
The Baseball Show discussed just how important the starters have been to the team's success.
"Your 3, 4, 5 (starters), not only are they keeping you in games, but they've been pitching outstanding…That's the reason why they are where they are," Lou Merloni said. "Those three guys, there hasn't been a clunker in there."
