FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Red Sox begin exhibition play Thursday with their annual doubleheader against college teams.
The Sox will play Northeastern at 1:30 p.m. followed shortly by a game with Boston College at 4 p.m. Both games will be seven-inning contests.
Most established Red Sox players will take part in the first game, with catchers Ryan Lavarnway, David Ross and Jarrod Saltalamacchia; infielders Pedro Ciriaco, Stephen Drew, Will Middlebrooks, Lyle Overbay and Dustin Pedroia plus outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury, Jonny Gomes, Daniel Nava, Ryan Sweeney and Shane Victorino.
The BC game will feature mostly prospects, including infielder Xander Bogaerts, outfielder Jackie Bradley, Jr. shortstop Deven Marrero
As for pitchers, each game will feature relievers pitching an inning each.
