Red Sox open Japanese Twitter account

Red Sox Nation is expanding. At least in the Twitterverse.

Starting today, there's a new Japanese-language Twitter account -- @redsoxjp -- in which you'll find (and this is straight from the press release) "translations of Red Sox English language social media content, regular interviews with Red Sox players, and exclusive interviews and information from relievers Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara. Fans who follow the account will also have the opportunity to participate in sweepstakes, giveaways, and live Q&A sessions with Koji Uehara."

It's not the first time the Sox have reached beyond the borders in cyberspace. They opened a Spanish-language Twitter account (and Facebook page) in 2011.
