Red Sox notes: Pedro returns to camp

FORT MYERS, Fla. --  Pedro Martinez was back in Red Sox camp today. Now a special assistant to general manager Ben Cherington, Martinez was in uniform watching the games on the back fields in the Sox complex.  The Sox three Single-A teams were hosting the Twins’ affiliates.

  •  Outfielder Mitch Maier, who injured his left wrist on a diving catch on Friday against the Orioles, said he is feeling better but he is awaiting information. He had an MRI on Saturday and was scheduled for a follow-up MRI Monday afternoon to clarify the original. He does not have a diagnosis beyond stretched ligaments and tendons but said the wrist is feeling much better and his grip strength is good.  Friday was was his first start in left field this spring.

Tuesday vs. Orioles: Ryan Dempster, Terry Doyle, Junichi Tazawa, and Daniel Bard.
Wednesday, in Tampa, against the Yankees: Felix Doubront, Clayton Mortensen, Andrew Miller, Andrew Bailey, Anthony Carter, Joel Hanrahan.
Thursday vs. Phillies: John Lackey, Chris Hernandez, Miller, Bailey, Carter, Hanrahan.
Friday, in Dunedin, vs. Blue Jays: Alfredo Aceves, Bard, Carpenter, Carter, with Jon Lester starting a minor league game.
Saturday vs. Pirates: Clay Buchholz, Doyle, Oscar Villarreal, Tazawa.

Miller, Bailey, Hanrahan, and Carter are scheduled to pitch back-to-back games for the first time this spring on Wednesday and Thursday.
