BOSTON -- John Lackey, making just his second start this season, is expected to go four to five innings today.

  • Joel Hanrahan (right hamstring) and Craig Breslow (shoulder tendinitis) are each expected to pitch an inning for Triple-A Pawtucket today on rehab assignments. If Hanrahan comes through with no issues, he could be activated from the DL for the start of the three-game series in Toronto on Tuesday. Breslow, who was sidelined for all of spring training and has just two rehab appearances, is likely to need more rehab outings.
  • As expected, catcher Ryan Lavarnway was optioned to Pawtucket to make room on the roster for Lackey.
  • The Sox have scored 35 more runs than they have allowed, the best run differential in baseball. The Rangers and Cardinals are tied for second with 33.
