When did the Boston Red Sox get the feeling they could pull off something special this season? Well, according to the team, it started all the way back in spring training.
Sean McAdam joined Eric Frede on SportsNet Central to discuss what all changed for the Red Sox back in spring training that propelled them from worst to first.
“There were changes that you could see right away in spring training,” McAdam said. “There was more of a camaraderie. There was more respect for the manager. And there was a following of what he wanted.”
While some will compare this team to the one that won the World Series in 2004, a more accurate comparison would be to the 1967 Impossible Dream team.
“You had contributions from all kinds of guys, in all different directions, with comeback wins,” McAdam said. “That sounds a lot like the profile of the 2013 Red Sox too.”
