BALTIMORE -- John Farrell said he's already sketched out a schedule for outfielder Grady Sizemore for the first six weeks of the season.

For now, the Sox will hold to the practice of not playing Sizemore more than three days in a row.

"We've got (the first six weeks) mapped out, in terms of games that we'll target," said Farrell. "That doesn't say which specific days they are, but we look at it a week at a time, with increasing workloads. And there's going to be a number of factors that come into consideration when we map out the actual games played."

Sizemore's story is one of the most unusual in baseball this spring, having made the Sox after missing all of the previous two seasons.

"He had a very successful spring training, given everything he's gone through," said Farrell. "I think it's a testament to our medical staff, who have identified how they can help him -- not only getting him on the field but have him respond to the physical challenges he's gone through in spring training.

"We still don't know what fully what to expect over the course of this year. But he earned the center field job and it's been an exciting thing to see unfold."
