Rays, Red Sox exchange jabs on Twitter

BOSTON –  The Rays beat the Red Sox, 2-1, Monday night at Fenway Park behind another dominating performance by reigning Cy Young winner David Price and a controversial eighth-inning call by homeplate umpire Jerry Meals.  The loss dropped the Sox a half game behind the Rays in the American League East.
 
After the game, the teams’ official Twitter accounts got involved in the battle. The Rays fired the opening salvo with:

Although, that last one seems to have been deleted from the account’s timeline.
 
Even the teams’ fans got involved, including basketball analyst Dick Vitale, perhaps the Rays’ best known fan:


Even Sox principal owner was on Twitter after the game. Although, his message was more just stating a fact, rather than taking part in the tweet-off:
