Throughout the career of Jacoby Ellsbury, he has been criticized at times for not playing unless he is 100%.

Lou Merloni comes to Ellsbury's defense, saying labeling him soft is "unfair."

"The problem with Jacoby is that he's got not wiggle room.  I think that's probably unfair to be quite frank." said Merloni, "He's had two major injuries that's kept him out… Other than that has he been J.D. Drew?"

Bob Neumeier compared Ellsbury's situation to that of Dustin Pedroia, who has been playing the majority of the season with a torn ligament in his thumb.

"But the flipside is people look at what Pedroia has done." compared Neumeier, "People say, 'why shouldn't Ellsbury be able to do it if Pedroia can do it?'"
