BOSTON David Ortiz is back in the starting lineup Saturday night against the Indians. Ortiz left Fridays game when Darnell McDonald pinch-hit for him in the seventh inning. Manager Bobby Valentine said after the game, a 7-5 Red Sox win, Ortiz might have bruised his heel running out an infield single in the fifth inning.
When I talked to him before Saturdays game he said hes probably not going to be stealing a lot of bases tonight but hes ok to go, Valentine said.
We have an understanding if he feels anything, if he feels like maybe he should be not swinging even if it's in the middle of the bat, hell let us know. But he says hes OK to go and the training room thinks hes OK to go.
Ortiz, who is batting third, is hitting .352 with seven home runs and 23 RBI this season. He is 2-for-8 with a run scored and a walk in two games against the Indians.
