PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Franklin Morales, who has been dealing with lower back pain, was given the day off.
"He's kind of plateaued a little bit," said John Farrell, "He was making some improvement with the medication he was taking. He was throwing up to 75-90 feet but he feels some tightness there again, so we're backing off him."
The news is better with another sidelined lefty, Craig Breslow, who's had some shoulder inflammation.
"He'll be out to (throwing from a distance of) 90 feet," said Farrell. "He's making positive steps. It's all about strengthening and the beginning stages of a throwing program."
Shortstop Stephen Drew continues to battle some concussion symptoms and isn't yet cleared to return to the field.
Drew went through some exertion tests Saturday and experienced some issues toward the end of the tests.
"He'll have to submit to some on-line (cognitive) testing," said Farrell.
