DETROIT -- Reliever Franklin Morales left the game in the seventh inning with a recurrence of a left shoulder injury and is likely heading to the disabled list Sunday.
"He felt a little discomfort in the left shoulder and we had to go get him at the time,'' said John Farrell. "He'll be re-examined when he comes in (Sunday), potential for a DL. (The problem) is in the same general area (as before), but until we have an exam, it's hard to real specific at this point.''
Morales missed the first two months of the season with a back issue, but in late April, he was further sidelined with a pectoral injury near the left shoulder.
"I felt it on one pitch, a little soreness,'' said Morales. "They're going to check it out (Sunday). It's crazy man, but I'll stay positive.''
Farrell indicated the Sox will need a fresh arm for Sunday since Morales, their one long man, was in the game in the fifth inning and is now unavailable.
"We've got some conversations to have tonight,'' Farrell said.
