We have seen this before from David Ortiz, as he hit another clutch postseason homerun.
This time, it was a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at 5-5 in game two of the American League Championship Series versus the Detroit Tigers.
Michael Holley and Lou Merloni broke down another clutch homerun by David Ortiz on Sports Sunday.
“I was looking for that there,” said Merloni of Ortiz’s grand slam. “This is David Ortiz. I don’t think he has looked good really here in the first two games, out of sync, caught in the middle a little bit. But it’s just David. How many times have we seen this from this guy?”
Ortiz said after the game the Detroit pitchers are taking a different approach to him in the playoffs then they did in the regular season
“Judging from what I saw in game one, David Ortiz looks jumpy to me,” Merloni said. “It’s almost like he is anticipating 95 on the inner half each and every single pitch. I’m guessing they pounded him in with heaters all day long previously.”
