Merloni: Middlebrooks needs to play every day

Will Middlebrooks has struggled thus far in 2013. Hitting just .192 on the season in 53 games this season, the red Sox third baseman has struggled even more since returning from the disabled list a few weeks ago.

His injury and slump, in addition to the emergence of Jose Iglesias, have some wondering if Middlebrooks needs to return to the minor leagues. The crew on The Baseball Show discussed Middlebrook's struggles and what the Red Sox should do. Lou Merloni said that the red Sox need to let Middlebrooks get into a rhythm.

"Will Middlebrooks should be playing every single day," Merloni said.

"Platooning him is not going to get him locked in."
