BOSTON -- Jon Lester is still on track to start on Tuesday after throwing a 35-pitch bullpen session Sunday afternoon.

Lester was originally scheduled to start against the Yankees on Sunday night, but because of "wear and tear" the Red Sox decided to push back his first start after the All-Star break to Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. His last start came on July 13 in Oakland.

"I don't have an injury," Lester said Sunday.

But if he felt some lingering fatigue coming out of the All-Star break, it would be understandable. He has thrown 2,138 pitches in his 20 starts this season, ranking him 10th in the majors in pitches thrown.

"I've thrown a lot of pitches this year," he said. "We're just trying to take advantage of the All-Star break and the couple extra days we have thrown in there. We felt like it was a good time to do that."
