UPDATE: After beating the Blue Jays, John Farrell said that the Red Sox had not yet received the results of Lackey's MRI. More to come . . .
TORONTO -- John Lackey, who came out of Saturday's start in the fourth inning after suffering a strained right biceps, is in Boston awaiting an examination by team othropedist Dr. Peter Asnis and a follow-up MRI.
The Sox are hopeful that they may have further word on Lackey's condition by mid-game Sunday.
Manager John Farrell said if Lackey needs only to miss a little time, the Sox could simply skip his turn thanks to an off-day in the schedule.
"That's a possibility," said Farrell. "I think we'll know more after the information is returned from the MRI. But first and foremost is John's well-being. Given all that he's come through and, in this case, given that a pitcher walked off the mound in the middle of an at-bat, we've got to cautious with this."
