John Lackey had another successful outing Friday night, allowing one unearned run over seven innings in the Red Sox 8-1 win over Cleveland. He raised his record to 3-4 and dropped his ERA to 2.72.
Since failing to make it out of the fifth inning on May 14 in Tampa Bay, Lackey hasn’t allowed an earned run in 13 innings pitched. He’s allowed just two earned runs in 20 innings of work at Fenway Park in 2013. That said, Lackey’s numbers don’t indicate how well he has pitched.
“Honestly, I think it’s been more than the [last two starts],” said Lackey following the game. “There’s been a couple weird plays, one of them being my own, in a few starts, that you look back and say I actually threw the ball off the mound pretty dang good.”
