JUPITER, Fla. -- John Farrell will get his first glimpse of knuckleballer Steven Wright in a game situation Monday when Wright pitches a couple of innings against Toronto in Dundein.
Wright will be a depth option at Pawtucket and could get a shot if there are injury or performance issues with the major league rotation.
"It will come down to how willing he is to throw that pitch behind in the count and can he throw it over the plate," said Farrell of some keys. "Secondly, it's the ability to control the running game. Those are the primary keys you focus in on a knuckleball pitcher."
Jarrod Saltalamacchia will catch Wright, but Farrell said he wants all the catchers in camp to have a turn with the knuckleballer.
