At the halfway point in the season, the Red Sox have a three-game lead in the American League East and own the best winning percentage in the A.L.
Not bad for a team that finished dead last in the division last season.
Red Sox manager John Farrell spoke with CSNNE's Jessica Moran Saturday to talk about the state of the first-place team.
"Given where we are in the standings, I think there's a lot of positives to talk about," Farrell said.
Indeed, there are. The Red Sox lead the league in runs scored, rank second in batting average and second in strikeouts pitched. They totaled 69 wins last season, and are already at 49 before the All-Star break this year. Boston has managed to do everything with a lineup and rotation that has sustained its share of injuries, but has fought through them.
"We're very consistent," Farrell said.
"All things considered, we're in a pretty good place right now."
