Red Sox infielder Jose Iglesias was named AL Rookie of the Month for June after hitting .395 (27-for-64) with four doubles, two triples, one home run, six RBI, and nine runs scored in 25 games on the month.
Iglesias had hits in each of his first fourteen games as part of his 18-game hitting streak that stretched from May 27th to June 18th. He led all rookies on the month in batting average, on-base percentage (.453), slugging percentage (.523), base hits and runs scored. Overall, Iglesias is hitting .415/.459/.533 with nine doubles, two triples, one home run, and ten RBI in 40 games in 2013.
Iglesias is the first Red Sox player to be named AL Rookie of the Month since Jacoby Ellsbury received the honor in September of 2007.
