On Saturday, Red Sox fans learned that closer Joel Hanrahan will undergo season-ending elbow surgery.

The Baseball Show panel discussed who could potentially fill the setup and closer roles while Andrew Bailey recovers from his own injury.

"Somebody, whether it be Alex Wilson, or Andrew Miller, or Craig Breslow. Someone has to step forth and become another trusted seventh or eighth inning weapon." said Sean McAdam  "Because you cannot continue to use Uehara and Tazawa as much as you have through the first thirty-five, thirty-six games.  Their arms are going to be by their ankles by the time you get to the (All-Star) break."

Lou Merloni has a suggestion for the closer role.

"I think Tazawa has the stuff to close." suggested Merloni, "It's just getting over that hump of being the closer. I've seen it before, guy is electric in the seventh and eighth, and get to the ninth and maybe their not as aggressive with the fastball."
