David Ortiz will be shut down for 5-7 days, but the Red Sox are still spinning this thing in the most positive way possible.
That includes Red Sox manager John Farrell, who said that Ortiz has actually improved over a year ago and progress is being made.
Mike Felger is a bit angry at Farrell's answer, and so is the Boston Herald's Steve Buckley to a lesser extent.
"How anybody could portray this as a positive, as an improvement, as progress, to me is unbelievable," Felger said. "...I expect this from Larry Lucchino. I am disappointed that John Farrell is now talking like Larry Lucchino."
Gary Tanguay doesn't think that this is much of a big deal, and that it's a manager's job to "protect the players" and lie about things to the media all the time.
