BOSTON - John Farrell is of the opinion that Allen Webster, who walked six in 2 2/3 innings Saturday and has walked 11 in eight innings in the big league this season, can figure things out.
"He has a tendency to kind of lead with his body a little bit more," said Farrell of Webster's mechanical issues, "and it kind of spiraled in a way Saturday. As that (third inning) was unfolding, he started to lead more and more with his body and his arm had an inability to catch up and give him a consistent release point out front.
"The one thing we have to be clear with Allen is, he's not as far away as he might think coming out of that outing. Sure, the line score doesn't lie. But he's a small adjustment away from being in the strike zone more consistently.''
Farrell confirmed that Webster will remain in the rotation. His next scheduled start will come Friday in Anaheim.
