BOSTON -- John Farrell just can't win when it comes to replay challenges.

The Red Sox manager lost another challenge on Friday night when he contested a fair call on Nick Markakis' double down the left-field line to lead off the game. The hit came on John Lackey's first pitch and appeared to fall very close to the edge of the foul line in front of the Monster.

It took 2 minutes, 56 seconds to review and the call was upheld. Markakis later scored on a two-out single by Adam Jones to give the Orioles the lead, 1-0.

Farrell lost the first-ever challenge at Fenway Park earlier this month.

He also lost two challenges in the Bronx last weekend. The second of which, a very close play at first, set Farrell off. Steamed in part because he lost a challenge that he should have won the day before, Farrell became the first manager ever tossed from a game for arguing the result of a challenge. After the game, Farrell publicly criticized the league's use of replay and was later fined by MLB.
