Farrell hopes Napoli picture clearer by weekend

FORT MYERS, Fla. Mike Napoli is scheduled to undergo a follow-up MRI on his hips, which were diagnosed with avascular necrosis during his physical with the Red Sox in December. The MRI is scheduled for Thursday with Napolis doctor doing the evaluations. The results will allow the Sox to determine the next step for their new first baseman.

I dont have an exact timeframe on when that feedbackll be had, said manager John Farrell. But we still think well get a better and clearer picture by the weekend.

For now, Napoli is restricted from doing any impact activities, such as running.

Napoli didn't miss a whole lot of running drills, however. Heavy showers throughout the day on Thursday limited the Sox workout to mostly indoors. Players warmed up on the fields before rains forced them inside. Pitchers threw in the batting cages, before hitters took over for batting practice.
