FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Red Sox manager John Farrell thinks starter Clay Buchholz has fallen back into the habit of working particularly slowly with runners on base.

"I think we've seen it before," said Farrell after Buchholz' inning of work in the Red Sox' 8-0 loss to the Rays on Tuesday. "He does slow the game down, no question. But that's the way he keeps it under control, so, again, I'm not going to make too much of the first outing here. But somewhat of what we've seen today, you see that during the season."

-- With the Red Sox heading to the East Coast of Florida Wednesday and Thursday for games in Jupiter, Jon Lester and John Lackey will stay behind and get their work in in intrasquad games.

Lester will go Wednesday, with Lackey slated for Thursday.

The expectation is that each will throw the equivalent of three innings, or about 45-50 pitches.
