Red Sox reliever Andrew Bailey has been relieved of his closing duties by manager John Farrell after blowing two saves in a week.
Bailey hasn't had a strong start to 2013, as he's blown four saves in 12 tries for the Sox this season. After he missed most of 2012 with an injury, some are wondering if Bailey may be pitching through pain again. Others are worried that Bailey is just overrated. On The Baseball Show, Lou Merloni put that concern to rest.
"He's just struggling right now," Merloni said. "A lot of people go through it. When a hitter struggles or a starting pitcher struggles, you have the rest of the team to pick you up. When you're a closer with a one-run lead and you struggle, the game's over."
