FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Jacoby Ellsbury is out again, with what manager John Farrell called “intestinal turmoil.” Mark Hamilton has caught something similar and is also out today as well.

  • Injury updates:  Pedro Beato (right shoulder) has a bullpen today. Craig Breslow (left shoulder) continues his throwing program. Franklin Morales (lower back inflammation) is responding favorably to medication, Farrell said, and will continue to increase his activity and core strengthening program. The Sox had planned to stretch out Morales this spring, counting on him for rotation depth.

“We want to be careful with this one,” Farrell said.

  • WBC updates: Alfredo Aceves and Oscar Villarreal each pitched a scoreless inning Tuesday night in  Mexico’s win over the Diamondbacks. Aceves will work out of the bullpen for Mexico, but will get stretched out with multiple-inning outings. Shane Victorino went 0-for-3 for Team USA against the White Sox. Including Grapefruit League action, Victorian is 0-for-14 this spring. Xander Bogaerts is 1-for-8 with a run scored, a double, and two walks starting three games at third base.
  • Hall of Farmer Carl Yastrzemski arrived in Fort Myers yesterday, and watched pregame batting practice Tuesday morning behind the cage with Luis Tiant and fellow Hall of Famer Jim Rice.
