FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Shortstop Stephen Drew, hit in the head by a pitch last Thursday, is still feeling some concussion symptoms and is a few days from being cleared to return to action.

"The symptoms are still a little there,'' said Drew Monday. "So it's kind of (a matter of) holding off until they calm down. Then, so the tests and go from there. That's kind of where we're at -- just in a holding pattern until I start to feel a little more normal and then we'll go from there."

Drew said he didn't experience any symptoms on the field, but later that night, the symptoms began to appear.

"I got home and kind of noticed the symptoms coming on,'' he said. "I came in the next day and did some tests. We're kind of just in a holding pattern until this thing heals up."

Drew said he's experiencing some dizziness and "a little lightheadedness. It's getting better, but you've got to make sure these things go away before you go back out there. You don't want to come back, because they can come back. Then it won't be good. For the most part, it's getting better, slowly but surely.

"I'd like to get this thing going so I can get going again. (But) you can't play around with it. It's your head. You go back out there and take a shot, you never know what happens."
